A week-long Student Induction Programme was organised at Sarupathar College for the newly enrolled students of the B.A. and B.Com. 1st Semester. The programme, held from 23rd June to 27th June 2025, took place in the College Auditorium and was coordinated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Admission Committee of the college.

The induction programme was divided into 10 technical sessions, each conducted by experienced faculty members of the institution. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from a significant number of newly admitted students.

The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony. Dr. Ridip Khanikar, IQAC Coordinator, introduced the Principal, Vice Principals, and Heads of Departments of various disciplines. In his address, Vice Principal Mr. Jayanta Borah familiarised the students with the salient features of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, highlighting the transformative changes it envisions for the country's education system.

Following the inaugural session, Dr. Ridip Khanikar conducted the first technical session on the theme "Welcoming the New Academic Batch 2025-26." The session aimed at helping students overcome initial mental barriers and fostering an environment where they could express their abilities and aspirations. During this interactive session, students introduced themselves and shared their future plans and ambitions.

Day 2

The second day featured two technical sessions. The first session was delivered by Dr. Prem Kanta Bora, Head of the Department of Sociology, who elaborated on the NEP 2020 and its deep-rooted connection with India's civilisational values and traditional learning systems. His thought-provoking presentation generated considerable interest among the students.

The second session was conducted by Dr. Pranab Phukan, Associate Professor, Department of Assamese. He provided a comprehensive explanation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) structure, including details on course patterns, grading systems, and academic expectations. The session proved highly informative and enriching for the students.

Day 3

The third day of the programme was led by two distinguished speakers. In the first session, Mr. Porag Bhuyan, Senior Faculty of the Commerce Department, discussed Commerce Education and its Career Opportunities, engaging students in an interactive dialogue that kept the session lively and insightful.

The second session was conducted by Dr. Prapti Thakur, Principal of Sarupathar College. Dr. Thakur addressed the students on the institution's commitment to student welfare, highlighting the available infrastructural facilities, co-curricular opportunities, and the rules and regulations to be observed within the college campus.

Day 4

Day four began with a technical session by Ms. Trishmita Borah, Head of the Department of English. Her presentation titled "The Importance of English in Everyday Life" addressed the apprehensions many students face regarding English as a subject. Through her engaging approach, she encouraged students to view English not only as a vital communication skill but also as a promising academic and career option.

The second session of the day was conducted by Mr. Sandhan Hazarika, who highlighted how Sarupathar College integrates career training with formal education, thereby ensuring students' holistic development and better career prospects.

Day 5

The final day of the programme began with a session on Digital Literacy and Library Use, conducted by Ms. Smita Chetia, the College Librarian. She emphasized the growing significance of digital literacy in daily life and provided insights into the digitisation process of library resources, along with the rules and regulations governing library usage.

The concluding technical session was jointly conducted by Dr. Sanjay Rizal and Dr. Pritom Sutradhar, Assistant Professors from the Commerce Department. The session focused on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), an increasingly relevant topic in contemporary academia and industry. The session sparked great interest among the students, and both speakers underscored the importance of understanding IPR-related issues for personal and professional development.

Valedictory Session

The Induction Programme concluded with a Valedictory Session, hosted by Dr. Ridip Khanikar, IQAC Coordinator. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the participating students, faculty members, and organising teams for their valuable contributions, which ensured the grand success of the programme.
